Williams, John (Towner)
(n. 8 feb. 1932, Nueva York, N.Y., EE.UU.).

Compositor y director de orquesta estadounidense. Estudió música en la UCLA y en la Juilliard School. Comenzó su carrera como pianista de jazz, pero en la década de 1960 comenzó a componer para la televisión y el cine. Ha compuesto la música de más de 75 filmes, entre ellos Tiburón (1975), la trilogía de La guerra de las galaxias, Encuentros cercanos del tercer tipo (1977), E.T., el extraterrestre (1982), La lista de Schindler (1993) y Harry Potter y la piedra filosofal (2001) y ha ganado cinco premios de la Academia. También ha compuesto múltiples obras de concierto. Entre 1980 y 1993 fue el director de la orquesta Boston Pops.
